June 14...Flag Day

Troop 84 was part of the Flag raising Ceremony at Overlook park. As the Flag was being spread out to be raised, the smaller kids are sent underneath to hold up the flag so that it does not hit the ground.

Christian could not reach the flag most of the time
Both boys under the huge flag...the largest in Montana.
The flag on it's way up the pole. As it was being raised a helicopter came and hovered to Salute Old Glory!
Each of the brownies wrote 2 sentences. Here Lacy is reading her's "Montana Soldiers are Jesus' helpers, they fight and die for us. I hope God will bless their families." It took some time in trying to get her to understand what soldiers do, and what they are willing to do, but based on her sentences, I think she got the point.
There was a lesson on Flag ettiquette which our culture now so seems to lack. We explained to Nathan and Christian that since they were in uniform, they were to salute the flag.
