As they continue their studies on the Roman Empire, the Upper Grammar class made crowns and septers. They have read from the Story of the World, which is written in a manner that they don't want to stop! The oldest does not usually put much effort into craftsy projects, but with the coop he is able to put the effort needed to do good work.

As they read Around the World in 80 days, there are crafts and such that go with the countries they are "visiting". The lower grammar made "paper quilts" from India. The little guy was so thrilled with his!
Please excuse the chaos of the floor and such in the house. We are in the process of remodeling and we are now doing the floor. My darling has put in a new layer of 1/4 inch subflooring and tonite after work we start laying the laminate flooring. *YEAH*
The kids were up and ready for coop by 7...we leave here at 8:10 to get there on time.
Tuesday's through Thursday's have become busy for the kids as we get our reading and assignments done. On Wednesday we were reading about leaves, and I had the princess run out to get some leaves from the garden. She came in squealing with joy as she spotted a woodpecker in our little grove of sumac trees.
I had a difficult time trying to get a shot of our visitor because he kept moving around in the trees as he looked for lunch. Of course this sidetracked our lesson, we found that he was a "Downey Woodpecker" and I had the kids fill out a coloring page to add to their nature journal as we learned more about him.
All in all, a good week
