Does my light shine for you Lord? Will you turn to me and say the words I long to hear from you alone..."Well done,my good and faithful servant".
You created light, yet the darkness refused to recieve you
You sent your SON as our saving light, the darkness still refuses to recieve it.
I sit here with "this little light of mine", a song I learned in my youth, running over and over again in my head, yet my light seems so dim.
Father what must I separate myself from that I may shine bright for you...which possessions dim my heart? which activities cause the light to faulter? Which people seem to drain your me to where I no longer burn brightly for you? Guide me Father, show me, teach me. Cause me to have a willing heart...
You have taught me that we are light in you, and I must walk as a child of the light. I have even gone as far as painted that verse on my wall that I should not forget. You have taught me not to "have fellowship with unfruitful works of darkness" for each time we dabble with these, our light becomes dim.
This world is turning farther and farther away from you Lord, more and more lost souls. Your Son's works dealt with the flesh, yet pointed to the soul and all brought glory to YOU. When He healed the sick, they still eventually died, but they all pointed to YOU. May I be like Jesus and point to YOU.
I pray the works I do,will guide others to you, I pray the words I do will be an encouragement to other believers, but mostly, I pray that any works I do will bring Glory to YOU and YOU alone.

IBLP/Walk with Him Wednesday
Rejoice....Joyfulness versus self-pity.
The first thing I am greeted with in this weeks study..."Joyfulness is the bright spirit and radiant countenance that comes by being in full fellowship with the Lord"...
OUCH...I have gotten away from it but in my past I had self-pity down to a fine art...there are still days that I dwell in the self pity mode...and the attitude in my house reflects it...it rubs off on everyone.
The daily devotional that really stood out to me this week.Blessed are you when men shall revile you and persecute you and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for mysake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad; for great is your reward in heaven; for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Matthew 5:11-12
I have lived this persecution. My husband and I had become very active in our church, we truly had a home built upon the rock. We had invited some people over for Christmas dinner...the first one I ever hosted. One of the single men wanted to bring his girlfriend, I asked him not to as she was married. He did anyway.
With this came a subsequent conversation. I was told I said things I never said, I was accused of belittling someone I never did, I had no idea where this was coming from, until the comment that I "talk to much of God"...I was told by my BIL that I should divorce my husband so they could have the old person back...there was the answer.
Noone can accuse us with permission of the Father. NO one can harm our relationship with Him unless we choose to let them. The fact is their accusations and lies come from their own guilt and confrontation with sin.
Again this week, God speaks through the childrens bible lessons. Looking back on the follow me command, one of the versus with the kids' study was on rejoice, again I say rejoice (okay, He said it twice, maybe I really ought to listen)but this time I read on "quench not the spirit"...on days in dealing with various levels of exhaustion/depression I find I have quenched this spirit, thus pouring water on the fiery passion I so so want to return to for God.
I am finding that trying to list 1000 gratitudes is helping me, I am seeing things again that I had my eyes shut to for so long, back to the basics.
For this week, I will purpose my days to Rejoice, again I say rejoice! I am off to bed for it is written...Joy comes in the morning....

Repent
God sent His Beloved Son as the perfect sacrifice for our sins. Unblemished by sin, when faced with temptations...
I am not so good, I sin daily and must take these sins to my heavenly Father and pray that He will forgive those sins, yet I must go one step further...to repent...to turn away from...to walk away from and not turn back.
I must learn to keep in mind that the repentance that God offers is not to alleviate guilt, but for the restoration of the relationship with HIM.
In the IBLP lesson of repentance the author wrote "Repentance is like a fresh spring breeze that blows away the foul odor of sin." What a true gift this is.
As a wife, mother, grandmother I must remember to model this for my family, I must remember to repent of sins committed against them that I may model the repentance we are offerred by God
Let not the sun go down upon your wrath, neither give place to the devil. Ephesians 4:26-27
Yesterday during the devotional time with the children, our bible verse was Psalm 139:23 Search me, O God and know my heart, try me and know my thoughts. The author of the devotional relayed a story about a little girl who had a sock stuck to her back from static cling ... equating it to how sin can stick to us. The sock was stuck to her back, so until her family told her about it, she was not aware it was there. This reminded me of the verse in Hosea in which we are warned My people are destroyed by lack of knowlege. We must know what God desires of us to repent of the sins we committ, my faithfulness to my own edification has been lax since the kids returned back to my home, I concentrate on them, and forget myself. To often I dont take the time I need with God.
When we pray the Psalm 139:23 as David did, we will be confronted by our sins as God shows them to us, and we must take them to the Lord immediately, not later...now. For God did not design us to carry the burden of unrepented sin, it is a burden we can so easily release when we choose to.
Revelation 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Psalm 51:1-4 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to they lovingkindness; according unto the multitude of thy thender mercies blot out my transgressioins. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity and cleanse me from my sin, for I acknowlege my transgressions and my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight; that though mightest be justified when thou speakest and be clear when thou judgest.
Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.
Matthew 4:17 Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Over the years I have confused guilt, regret and remorse with repentance, in looking at the heart of the matter, what it amounts to is pride, a refusal to sumbit myself humbly before God, for yet another sin got in the way...pride. Pride puts ourselves as equal to God, it is me deciding what is right and what is wrong. Pride caused satan and 1/3 of the angels to be cast from heaven, and it causes me not to repent so that I can receiving the blessings that God so wants to give us.
Father God, I pray that you will open my heart to meditate on your words, not just quote from your word, let me enjoy the place in which you allow the Holy Spirit to be my teacher, and submit myself to the authority of your Word and not to think that the memorization of your word is enough, that I must live it. Please Lord, help me daily to be open to the sins you show me to repent, Lord guard my mind and my heart not to let pride get in my way, nor let me confuse the guilt of sin with repentance. Father wash me daily, make me white as snow.
In the precious name of your beloved and perfect son I pray....
