Today he is 12

Today is my oldest grandson's 12th birthday, but because it is also our day for co-op, we celebrated yesterday.

His mom is loving learning how to decorate cakes, and she truly enjoyed making this one for him. I think she is doing great in learning to do these. She made the fondant for the cake from marshmallows and powdered sugar...far to sweet to eat but it looks good. The mushroom on top is a huge rice krispie treat.

Each birthday, we let the birthday kids choose their dinner. This year he picked nachos as his dinner of choice. So we put this together for him. He truly enjoyed every bite.

Being 12, he wrote out a "wishlist" that included "whiskers"...since timing of facial hair is truly left to God, this was the best we could do.

He recieved an RC star wars vehicle, (mom got it on clearance!!!) Some legos, an alarm clock, a "mario" checkers set, strings and a case for his guitar as well as a starwars table game. He has had the guitar (just an inexpensive one) and was told that if he practices regularly this year, in about 6-7 months we will get him a better one.

He was so thrilled with his day...my favorite quote of the day "this is my best birthday yet"...words like that are priceless.

Each year the birthday child picks small gifts for his siblings, he got a small lego set for his brother along with a "clown fish" pen, for his sister, some girl legos that she did not know existed and a "panda" pen.

A wonderful day spent with this gift from God and our family.
