For over 16 years this old girl has been my companion and my friend. I held her the day she was born, and just a few weeks after that she became part of our family.
Monday we said goodbye to her. It has been a rough couple of days as I expect to hear her cry when she needs help standing, I miss her sitting at my feet as I knit, keeping my feet warm, I miss her being beside me hoping I drop a scrap of food for her, and almost tripping me each day as she lay by the bathroom door as I shower.
Thank you for being such a good dog, faithful friend and devoted companion.

16 years is a tribute to the devoted care you provided your dog...who was clearly a well-loved member of your family. Your dog sounds like she was a wonderful companion.
