Advent...

For the first time this year, the kids and I are doing a Jesse Tree. This is provided from Ann Van Kamp at aholyexperience.com

We have done the first three devotionals and made the ornaments. This actually started on November 29th.

Today we were reading about the fall of man. I love how the kids listened and saw themselves in the behaviour of Adam and Eve. My princess was the first to see how Adam blamed Eve (The woman you gave me gave me the fruit)...how he blamed God (for making Eve, then Eve for giving the fruit to him). She started giggling and pointed out how they all do that to eachother.

The oldest caught Eve's lie as she was talking with the deciever (God told us not to eat or touch it.

As I continued to read and God promised to send a savior to crush the head of the evil one, all 3 realized that it pointed to Jesus. Two chapters into the bible and the world is already in a mess.

The devotional also gives a challenge of sorts. Today, we had to think and sing of Christmas songs that remind of us Jesus through the day. I heard more than once the kids singing O come all ye faithful, or away in a manger.

As we sat around the dinner table once Papa was home, each child told Papa of what they remembered from the story, and did a good job of remember this lesson.
