Weightloss Journey

For a while, I have needed to lose weight. The weight gain I have experienced was purely an emotional thing after my father died. I quickly learned I could not eat and cry at the same time, so I took up eating as a new hobby. Preferably anything chocolate and high calorie.

Along with that, I found myself spending far to long in front of this little box under the guise of "researching" or seeking curriculum for the kids(which I really did not need). With this in the past 3 years since the death of my father, I have consistenly put on weight.

Last year my darling bought me a WII fit as motivation, but I don't think I was ready yet, as a result it sat for a long time, unused, and I continued to gain weight. I had to go to the doctor in December...my mothers cat scratched me and within hours I could see infection setting in. When they weighed me I almost cried, this was after my hubby and I went to a Christmas party, that evening I looked at all the clothes in my closet and realized that I have notthing that fit me any more. I have not been this heavy since I was pregnant with my dau and it is making me miserable. (My real aha moment)

As I enter this, God has granted me a change of heart. I have done 45 minutes on the game today...burning calories, working on balance and rebuilding my strenght. I have become more attentive to what I am eating, portions as well as content. I have lost already 3 pounds since the beginning of the year (YEAH).

I am not trying to advocate that all should have this system, to the contrary, I would rather have a fitness room to lift free weights and do pilates. If we lived closer to town I would seek a gym membership, but I cannot see driving 20 minutes just to get to the gym, and the return journey. (40 minutes of gas/travel for 60 minutes of exersize...) But I must work with what I have room. I have also incorporated time on the WII for the kids as part of their school routine when they are unable to go outside do to cold or weather, so that they can have some fun while getting some exersize. I find them very encouraging.

Because of the variety, I don't find it difficult to work out on the Wii. Last week I bought another fitness game...Wii Zumba (my granddau loves this more than I) but it gives me a good aerobic workout. I also picked up a 30 pound weight bar and hope to find some time to do some free weights. I will shoot to do a weight lifting routine (about another 30 mins) after the kids are in bed tonight.

My goal is to lose about 10 pounds a month over the next 3 months. Really tho' for me it is not about the weight as much as being healthy and fit.

I go at least 3x a week at the gym to the classes plus I do a weight lifting class at least 1x a week. The treadmill has been my friend these past three weeks as I am trying to get the strength to run.. baby steps.. This is an awesome step and would love to be your encouragement.. :)
