Kombucha

My daughter was telling me of a fermented tea that is suppose to be good for digestion as well as some other healthy benefits. Last Friday she gave me a "scoby" or kombucha mushroom...it is slimy and stinks. But...here we go.



After making sweet tea, I let it cool to room temperature, then slid the scoby into the jar.

I then covered it with a coffee filter (to avoid critters getting in) and I have to let it sit for 5-7 days. Then we shall see...

I am curious to try this. Apparently as it sits, it will grow another scoby, so I should have a "mother" and "baby" when this is done. My mother and sister have dibs on the babies should this work.

OOOHHHH...science credit for the kids since we are studing botany...
