Thanksgiving

Since the death of my dad, Thanksgiving has been held at my house. My sister and her boys (young men now) and my mother all migrate here for dinner and just being together.

Of course, because we are remodeling, pictures were not done as I could not find my camera :(

We had a wonderful traditional dinner, however instead of trying to cram everyone and everything on my table for 8 (we had 14) ... we set the kids up at their own table, which my princess decorated lightly and covered my bookshelves for school supplies and served and buffet style...

What a hit!!! Since this is new for us as a family we are doing things some what hit and miss and we will keep adding ideas until it works for us.

After dinner, we played cribbage while the kids played in the living room. We had not done this before but think it will become tradition. Already a list of games lined up for Christmas (quelf being at the top of the list...) and my youngest wants to challenge everyone to cribbage now that he is learning to play!

The laughter was a long time coming as it had not been heard since my fathers death. This time of year was his favorite, and our hearts ache a little as we miss him. However, he would find such joy in our laughter.

God...thank you for this family. I pray for a wall of protection around us that we may rejoice in being yours and know that every day should hold the heart of thanksgiving for each and every blessing you bestow on us.
