I don't know what the difference is, I have tried just reading the bible and have not ever gone more than a week or so. Maybe it is the fact that the "size" of the kindle is not so intimidating...it has made reading much easier for me.
Challenge 1. Each morning I have been faithful in my reading the bible, as well as the bible study. I do notice a huge difference in my days when I start the day with time with God. I have also been faithful to do the bible study I have set out. As I was breaking out this study that I have had for a couple of years, I found that I had tucked in there a "schedule" to pray for my beloved. So that has become a part of my study. I find that as I read the guides for what to pray for, I find that I am incorporating myself as well, that I may be an example and an encouragement to him.
Challenge 2. Fitness...I love the tight soreness in the muscles that show my diligence. I have been working on the 30 day shred, as I figure it is a great starting point, but it is only a 25 minute workout, so in the evenings once everyone is in bed, I have been rotating been ab work (a challenge I found on pintrest), weight lifting with a weight bar (it is only 15 pounds but a start) and pilates. That is increasing the time of the workout to 45 minutes to 1 hour a day. To help with this I have put together a fitness binder and found this to be helpful, as I have a written schedule of exersize challenges I have found and I made up a calendar to keep myself on track.
The shred program I find fun, as my 8 year old breaks out a 1 pound hand weight and does it with me. He is becoming quite an encouragement with his "Nana...is it time to work out?" over and over until we start. He even encourages when I want to give up..."Come on Nana...keep up..."
Challenge 3. Journaling my food intake. I have been faithful in this as well. I believe that the lack of quantity I have journaled relates to the number one goal. If I am starting my day with the Lord, my emotions are not as rampant, I am less likely to calm myself with food. I do see a trend of 3pm munchy attack, and have been replacing sweets and junk with veggies. The munch attack is especially bad when I have not slept well (my old dog is now 17 years old and is going out at night sometimes 3 or 4 times a night...very disruptive to a sound sleep. She is already having health problems so this is tolerable for I know it is temporary and her time on this earth is coming to a close).

I used my iPad to read for the B90Days last session and I found it so much less intimidating {and I think I read faster} than reading from my study Bible! Something about not having pages... :)
These are such great goals, and awesome progress!
And about the hi-tech-- YES -it is easier. When I read the Bible in 90 days I did it on my iPod - it was with me all the time, it was so easy to keep track of where I was, and I could read while holding my then infant!
And I LOVE the 30DayShred.
I want to get back into doing SOMETHING.
It is so hard to balance it all -- I get up at 4AM or earlier for my quiet time/blogging time, and then by the end of the day I am TOAST!!
your doing awesome. I know when I started journaling my food it sure made a huge difference in how much I was eating. Once you put it on paper you think twice about eating it because it's in print :) Love your goals.. looking forward to seeing how your doing in the weeks to come.. HUGS
